Chipley – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is providing an update on road and bridge closures and restrictions in Northwest Florida due to Hurricane Isaac.

Scheduled highway maintenance and construction will resume Wednesday, Aug. 29. FDOT has suspended interstate maintenance and construction until further notice. All rail, transit and seaport facilities are functioning as normal.

Tolls on the Garcon Point Bridge in Santa Rosa County will be reinstated as of 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Escambia County

· Via de Luna Road east of Portfina closed due to flooding.

· 9th Avenue/State Road (S.R.) 289 from Romana Street to Bayfront Parkway closed due to water across roadway.

· Fort Pickens Road at the entrance to Fort Pickens is closed.

Franklin County

· The St. George Island Bridge/State Road (S.R.) 300 is now open.

· Mill Road is restricted one mile north of the intersection of U.S. 98 and River Road in Carrabelle due to flooding.

· Intersection of Gulf Shore Road at Alligator Drive is restricted due to water on the roadway.

· North Sawyer Street in Eastpoint is restricted due to the water on the road.

· East Pine Street in Eastpoint is restricted due to the water on the road.

Gulf County

· County Road (C.R.) 20 near Wewahitchka is closed from White Drive to Overstreet Road.

· Jarrott Daniels Road near S.R. 22 is closed.

Okaloosa County

· Meigs Drive closed due to water on roadway.

Santa Rosa County

· J.E. Bowden Way (C.R. 399) between Pensacola and Navarre is closed.

· Peter Prince Field Airport is closed.

Walton County

· DeFuniak Springs Airport is closed but is expected to reopen at 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday, Aug. 29.

Motorists are encouraged to monitor weather reports and road conditions and to be on the lookout for flooded roads. If the road ahead is flooded, turn around and find an alternate route. Flooded roads may hide the fact that the roadway is washed out underneath and as little as six inches of rushing water can force your car off the road.
